How to create your first mockup

  2. 2Click "Upload Artwork" or drag and drop your image file (PNG, JPG, JPEG, or WebP)
  3. 3Browse the mockup template gallery and click on a template to select it

  5. 5Click the download button on any result to save it as a high-resolution JPG

Uploading Artwork

Supported file formats

MockupPlacer accepts PNG, JPG, JPEG, and WebP files. There is no strict file size limit, but we recommend images under 25MB for optimal performance. Your artwork can be any resolution — MockupPlacer will automatically scale and fit it to the mockup template.

Best practices for artwork

  1. 1Use high-resolution images (at least 2000px on the longest side) for the sharpest results
  2. 2Transparent backgrounds (PNG) work great — MockupPlacer handles them automatically
  3. 3For poster mockups, portrait orientation typically looks best in frame templates
  4. 4For canvas mockups, both portrait and landscape orientations are supported

Bulk upload

Paid plan users can upload multiple artworks at once. Each artwork can be applied to multiple mockup templates simultaneously, making it easy to generate hundreds of variations for your product catalog.

Mockup Templates

Available template types

MockupPlacer offers 50+ professionally photographed mockup templates across several categories:

  1. 1Poster mockups — wall-mounted frames in various room settings
  2. 2Canvas mockups — gallery-wrapped canvas in living rooms, bedrooms, and studios
  3. 3Frame mockups — wooden, metal, and minimalist frames in modern interiors
  4. 4Wall art mockups — multi-panel and gallery wall arrangements

Choosing the right template

Consider your target audience when selecting templates. For Etsy listings, lifestyle mockups (art on a wall in a real room) tend to convert better than plain white backgrounds. Use a variety of templates to show your art in different settings — this helps buyers visualize the product in their own space.

Export & Download

Download quality

All mockups are exported as high-resolution JPG files with 95% quality. Output resolution matches the original mockup template (typically 2400-4000px on the longest side). This is more than sufficient for Etsy listings, which recommend images of at least 2000px.

Bulk download

When you have multiple results, you can download them all as a single ZIP archive. Each file is named with the template name for easy organization. ZIP downloads count as one credit per mockup included.

Using mockups on Etsy

  1. 1Download your mockup in the highest resolution available
  2. 2Upload directly to your Etsy listing — no editing needed
  3. 3Use 5-10 different mockup variations per listing for best conversion
  4. 4Include at least one close-up detail shot and one room scene shot

Troubleshooting

Artwork not displaying correctly

If your artwork appears stretched or cropped, try checking the aspect ratio. MockupPlacer preserves your artwork's original proportions, but very wide or very tall images may not fill the entire template area. Consider adjusting your artwork dimensions to match common poster ratios (2:3, 3:4, or 4:5).

Slow processing

Processing speed depends on your internet connection and image file size. For faster results, try reducing your image file size (compress PNG to JPG) or use images under 10MB. Browser-based processing works best on modern browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari).

Credits not updating

Credits update in real-time after each download. If your credit count appears stuck, try refreshing the page. If the issue persists after a page refresh, try signing out and back in. Credits sync from our server each time you log in.

Payment or subscription issues

Subscriptions are managed through LemonSqueezy, our payment provider. If you experience payment issues, you can manage your subscription from Account Settings > Manage Plan. For billing disputes or refund requests, contact us at support@mockupplacer.com.
